Abstract
Phase-matched second-harmonic generation (SHG) is observed in a four-layer 2-methyl-4-nitroaniline (MNA) single-crystal film waveguide with grating couplers. The measured input- and output-coupling efficiencies of the grating and the measured propagation loss of the four-layer waveguide are 9.9%, 42.0%, and 15.1 dB/cm, respectively. The phase-matching condition is satisfied between the first fundamental mode and the third second-harmonic mode in the MNA waveguide. The SHG conversion efficiency obtained for this mode. is 7.04 × 10−2% overall and 1.70% in the waveguide.
