Abstract

A theoretical analysis of nondegenerate four-wave mixing in a one-grating configuration is presented. Analytical expressions for the amplitudes and phases of all four interacting waves are derived. I apply the theory to a linear photorefractive oscillator and calculate the phase-conjugate reflectivity. Analytical expressions for the phase-conjugate reflectivity versus cavity detuning are presented. The new analytical theory is compared with a numerical theory of the linear photorefractive oscillator, and it is shown that the simplified analytical theory can account for complicated behavior that had previously been treated only numerically.
