Abstract
Stimulated-emission pumping (SEP) spectroscopy has been applied to the study of vibrationally excited levels of the ground electronic states of gas-phase open-shell molecular cations. SEP transitions were detected as a decrease in the total laser-excited fluorescence signal from the ions. The assignment of spin–orbit subbands previously observed in the emission spectrum of the diacetylene cation was confirmed by SEP, and vibronic bands in the transition of the bromocyanogen cation were isotopically labeled in a similar manner. Rotationally resolved transitions of have also been recorded and analyzed.
