Planar hologram gratings in photorefractive waveguides in LiNbO3

Abstract

We investigate photorefractive interactions of the waveguide modes in planar optical waveguides in electro-optic crystals. Peculiarities of the planar hologram formation, influenced by the inhomogeneity of interacting fields and the presence of different modes in the waveguide, are revealed. Processes of waveguide interactions that have no absolute volume analogs are investigated and realized.
