Abstract

The microwave magnetic double-resonance spectrum of Cl atoms was observed by using the laser-magnetic-resonance (LMR) spectrum for the 2P1/22P3/2 transition. X-band microwave power supplied to the double-resonance cell discharged gaseous Cl2 in the cell to generate Cl atoms and simultaneously brought about the double-resonance signals. The observed double-resonance frequencies provided accurate magnetic-field determination for the Lamb-dip positions for the 2P1/22P3/2 LMR Cl atom transition. The 2P1/22P3/2 splitting energies were determined to be 882.352 935(67) cm−1 (35Cl) and 882.353 786(67) cm−1 (37Cl).
