Parasitic lasing and thermoelastic deformations in Fe2+:ZnSe crystals under high-power pulsed optical pumping

Abstract

The results of numerical simulation of thermoelastic stresses arising in ${{\rm Fe}^{2 +}}{:}{\rm ZnSe}$ crystals, in which the profile of doping with iron ions is a curved surface, are presented. For the conditions of the same specific energy input in the doped region, for different doping profiles, the arising thermoelastic stresses and strains of the crystal were determined, and the thresholds for the appearance of parasitic generation were calculated. It was found that the doping profile in the form of a spherical surface is inferior to the checker doping profile from the point of view of the thermoelastic stresses arising during optical pumping and the possibility of scaling the laser energy.
