Two coupled one-atom lasers

Abstract

We consider a coupled quantum system, where two identical one-atom lasers interface with each other via the light-induced long-range dipolar interaction between two laser-active atoms. We theoretically investigate the effects of the interatomic interaction on the lasing dynamics from three experimentally measurable aspects, including the light intensity, the first-order correlation of the laser field, and the intensity–intensity correlation. We find that the long-range interatomic coupling leads to the high intercoherence between two laser fields. Finally, we discuss the experimental feasibility of this coupled system.
