Abstract

We report an experimental study on the control of the high-order harmonic wave front through the adjustment of the wave front of the fundamental infrared laser. We have applied different levels of astigmatism to the IR beam via the use of a deformable mirror placed before the lens, and demonstrated that there exists a correlation between the IR and the high harmonic wave fronts.

Experimental setup for IR wave front measurements using a Shack–Hartmann sensor (SH) from Imagine Optic company. The IR beam is reflected at normal incidence on the deformable mirror (DM). The wave front is measured after the lens (L1) used to focus the IR beam near the gas cell. The lens (L2) allows conjugation of the DM with the SH. Mirror (M5) is used to redirect the beam to the SH sensor or is removed to leave the path free up to the gas cell.
