Abstract

Supercontinuum is generated and enhanced by using a concept of fiber combining amplification and nonlinear properties. Amplification of pump pulses at 1062nm in the nonlinear Yb-doped core of the fiber results simultaneously in an increase of the spectral power density level (average gain of 10dB over the entire spectrum) and a spectral flattening in the visible range.
