Origin of temporal fluctuation in the photorefractive effect

Abstract

The origin of the temporal fluctuation of a photorefractive space-charge field is analyzed. We find that this fluctuation results from the fluctuation of free-charge carriers, which is due to small fluctuations in the thermal-excitation rate and the total light intensity.
