Abstract

Low-noise cw 8.7-mW blue light is generated by frequency doubling of the output of a Fabry–Perot diode laser in a KNbO3 crystal inside a bow-tie ring cavity. The blue output has a narrow linewidth and a greater than 10-GHz continuous tuning range, with intensity fluctuations of less than 0.02 dB. The blue light has a near-diffraction-limited Gaussian TEM00 mode with M21.
