Abstract
After its success in the explanation of the isotope shift in the 5d elements, the applicability of the parametric description was also tested for the lanthanides. The following configurations were found to be suitable and useful objects for investigation: 4fn6s2 (Nd, Sm, Dy, Er), 4fn5d6s (Eu, Yb), 4fn6s6p (Eu, Er, Yb), and 4fn−15d6s2 (Gd). The first results for Sm, Eu, and Dy are compiled.
