Hyperfine structure intensity measurements as a tool for quadrupole radial integral determination

Abstract

Methods of quadrupole radial integral determination on the basis of relative intensity measurements of hyperfine structure components of mixed forbidden lines are described and discussed. The mixed forbidden lines 647.6, 564.0, and 461.5 nm of Bi i and 485.0 nm of Bi ii are investigated. The radial integral values for Bi i and Bi ii are found to be equal to 8.7 ± 0.6 and 9.5 ± 1.5, respectively.
