Instructions for LaTeX/REVTeX Submissions

  • Use standard LaTeX coding wherever possible and avoid use of custom macros.
  • All math expressions, even simple ones, should be placed in a proper LaTeX math environment and should be coded as "cleanly" as possible without heavy customization for spacing, alignment, etc.
  • Do not include subfolders within the archive (for example, the subfolder "figs\fig1.eps" will not work; instead, place the figure file "fig1.eps" directly in the archive). Before submitting, make sure your archive does not contain a subfolder containing all of your files. Prism will not accept this.
  • Include just one .tex file. Using \include and multiple .tex files will not work.
  • Include any non-OSA or nonstandard style files with your submission.
  • Compress your .tex manuscript file and all figures (which should be in EPS format, or PDF format if you are using PDFLaTeX) in a ZIP, TAR or TAR-GZIP package. PRISM will process in LaTeX mode by default but will use PDF LaTeX if PDF figure files are detected. Note: TAR or TAR-GZIP is no longer required. Avoid placing a compressed archive within a compressed archive. For example, we’ve had trouble with a .tar file placed inside another .tar file.
