Abstract

The probability-density function and the correlation function for intensities at two points in a laser speckle pattern that is a sum of several uncorrelated, partially developed speckle patterns are derived. The special cases of the newly derived results are found to agree with all the previously known results. These results are useful for applications in which techniques of speckle reduction by aperture averaging are employed.
