Periodic modes of piecewise uniform, periodically mismatched couplers

Abstract

An axially uniform waveguide structure supports modes called uniform modes. A waveguide that is periodic along the axis also supports modes called periodic modes. We examine the characteristics of the periodic modes of piecewise uniform, periodically mismatched twin core couplers.
