Abstract

A priori sufficient conditions for the principles of geometrical optics to apply with large probability in weakly irregular media are derived in a novel way. For larger distances, the resulting criteria turn out to be somewhat weaker than those presented in the literature. Both differentiable and fractal refractive indices are considered.
