Abstract

We analyze the performance of linear and nonlinear filters in the presence of nonergodic noise. Using numerical simulations, we show that in this case nonlinear filters perform better than linear ones. The criterion that we use to compare the efficiency of the various filters is the probability of correct location, which has a clear statistical meaning.
