Abstract

Scintillations of diverging laser beams in snowfalls are studied experimentally. The dependence of the scintillation index on three independent parameters is shown. They are propagation path, snowflake size, and number density. Saturation of the scintillation index with increasing propagation path is observed. The obtained data are in satisfactory agreement with the model of laser beam scintillations in precipitation proposed before by the authors.
