Speckle from cascaded diffusers in an imaging system

Abstract

Expressions for the first-order statistics of partially developed Gaussian speckle from two diffusers cascaded through an ideal imaging system are derived for the diffraction region with respect to the image plane. Behaviors of the cascaded speckle that are characterized by an equiprobability density ellipse are investigated in detail and are compared with the case for a single scatter.
