Abstract

Optical absorption measurements with polycrystalline α-uranium between 0.15 and 2.0 eV at near-normal incidence and 4.2 K revealed structure at 0.34, ∼0.77, and ∼1.3 eV. These results are in contrast with those for other actinides where the low energy reflectance was reported to be featureless.
