Abstract
Spectra from 3He(n,p)3H nuclear-induced plasmas generated under high thermal neutron flux, lasing conditions are presented for the first time. The spectra from mixtures of 3He and Ar, Xe, Kr, Ne, Cl2, F2, and N2 indicate little difference between high-pressure nuclear-induced plasmas and high-pressure electrically pulsed afterglow plasmas for noble-gas systems. Excimer emission from XeF* and KrF* was observed under 3He nuclear excitation. Preliminary results on spectra from He and Ar plasmas excited by the 235UF6(n,ff)FF reaction that show quenching of the atomic excited-state species by UF6 are also reported.
