Abstract

A method is described for derving the probability distribution of amplitude fluctuations of an atmospherically degraded laser beam from the statistics of the detected signal, by taking into account the distortion introduced by the nonlinearity of the recorder. As an application of the method, a particular set of experimental data are examined.
