Abstract

Expressions for the optical thicknesses required to construct an equivalent film of arbitrary equivalent index and equivalent optical thickness in the form of a symmetric three-layer stack consisting of two materials in the order <i>pqp</i> are presented. These expressions provide a general building block approach for designing multilayer coatings.
