Abstract

The fluorescence pattern of λ5988 in Dy i has been examined using a sweepable, single-frequency dye laser incident on an atomic beam. The 23 resolved components are interpreted, and the hfs constants and J value of the upper level are assigned. The isotope shifts for the line, including those involving the odd isotopes, are evaluated.
