Abstract

It is shown that an interference phenomenon is observed at the beat of two frequencies that modulate two mutually coherent beams. By selecting properly the frequencies of modulation, it is possible to observe finer or coarser time-average fringes, which are equivalent to large or very small amplitudes of vibration.
