Figures (1)

F. 1

Diagram of the polarizer. M1 and M2 are aluminized mirrors. M1 and the silicon are mounted on wedges (W) whose angle can be adjusted by screws S1 and S2. The orientation of M2 is adjusted by the three screws S3, S4, and S5, which are arranged in a triangle as seen from the top. The device also contains springs (not shown) to provide tension counter to the adjusting screws.
