Abstract

Tungsten radiance is evaluated according to published data for tungsten emissivity. From the spectral radiance, the total emissivity, integral radiance, maximum spectral radiance, and wavelength of that maximum are obtained and expressed, by empirical formulas, for tungsten surface temperatures from 1600 to 2800 K. It is found that the tungsten spectral radiance can be described by a normalized curve whose exponents are larger by one unit than the exponents of the normalized Planck curve.
