The temperature dependence of the threshold for stimulated emission of the Nd3+ ion in several host lattices estimated from the intensity relative to room temperature, i(295°K)/i(T), of the fluorescence component for which stimulated emission has been observed. Experimental measurements of laser threshold power, relative to room temperature, Pth(T)/Pth(295°K) [αi(295°K)/i(T)]. are indicated by the brackets at temperature T. The extent of the brackets illustrates the error attributed to these measurements. Where no estimate of the errors in the measurements was available, an error of 10% (corresponding to the uncertainties of the present measurements) was used.
