Abstract

A two-element photoelectric predetection interferometer has been examined. It was found that for small amplitude fluctuations, the correlation coefficient of the phase fluctuations of an optical field may be determined, in principle, from photoelectron counts. A simplification occurs in the particular case of small phase fluctuations.
