Abstract

Determinations of the refractivity of argon from measurements made with a corner-reflector Michelson interferometer are given for 17 vacuum wavelengths from 4679 to 20 586 Å. Sixteen of these measurements resulted in the dispersion formula (<i>n</i> - 1)10<sup>7</sup> = 643.2135+[286060.21/(144–σ<sup>2</sup>)], at 15°C and 760 Torr, where σ is the wave number in reciprocal microns. Comparison is made with other workers who made similar measurements.
