Abstract

The eight known levels of Er ii in the configuration 4f126s are compared with the theoretical formulas. A very good agreement can be reached by choosing parameters whose ratios are somewhat different from those for a hydrogenic 4f eigenfunction. Discrepancies mentioned by Judd and Marquet are thereby eliminated.
