Abstract

The ready availability of automatic digital computers facilitates comparing color-difference equations throughout CIE color-space. An IBM-650 program was devised and used to compare the MacAdam, Adams-Nickerson, and NBS color-difference equations. Initial results and conclusions are discussed as the first phase of an extended program to develop a more broadly applicable color-difference equation suitable for the semiautomatic inspection of colored plastics.
