Abstract

Glass-on-glass fiber bundles have been made with a resolution of better than 20 optical lines per millimeter in a 36-in. length. Transmittance is 47% in the range 5600°–7000°. Bundles $\frac{1}{4}-\text{in}$. in diameter have been incorporated in a duodenoscope, permitting the examination of the duodenum. A ureterscope has also been constructed $3\frac{1}{2}\text{mm}$ in diameter and 30 in. long for the examination of the ureter and kidney.
