Abstract

Glass-on-glass fiber bundles have been made with a resolution of better than 20 optical lines per millimeter in a 36-in. length. Transmittance is 47% in the range 5600°–7000°. Bundles 14-in. in diameter have been incorporated in a duodenoscope, permitting the examination of the duodenum. A ureterscope has also been constructed 312mm in diameter and 30 in. long for the examination of the ureter and kidney.
