Curve A. Solar spectrum recorded at the Chesapeake Bay Annex (38° 39′ N, 76° 32′ W) of the Naval Research Laboratory on May 24, 1956. Curve B. Sea-level atmospheric transmission spectrum recorded at the Chesapeake Bay Annex (12:40 P.M.) on May 24, 1956. The path length was 10.1 statute miles and the precipitable water content was 8.8 cm. This curve was run under the same conditions as Curve A except for an increase of about 37 in the amplifier gain.
