Abstract
A semiquantitative analysis of the formation of the fine-structures appearing on reflected fringes of equal chromatic order is reported. These fine structures are associated with irregularities on the surfaces of the interferometer plates. The analysis permits an estimation of the uncertainty in the experimentally determined height and shape of the irregularities.
