Internetworking with the intelligent optical layer

Abstract

My purpose here is to provide a general overview of the fundamental issues surrounding the interoperability of electrical-layer network devices and an intelligent optical-switched core. Included in this overview are the internetworking models currently being debated as well as a current status report on developments within various standards initiatives.
