Abstract
We present an analytical investigation of a performance monitoring scheme
capable of simultaneously monitoring Chromatic Dispersion, Polarization Mode
Dispersion and Optical Signal to Noise Ratio at 40 Gbit/s on timescales that
are appropriate to optical burst switched networks. This analysis supports
previously published experimental results which showed that this technique
is scalable to WDM network monitoring.
