Abstract

In this paper, we present a novel optical code-division multiple-access (O-CDMA) multiuser detector employing a basis-selection (BS) algorithm called the orthogonal-matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm. The proposed detector is compared with the receiver structures previously proposed in the literature. The effects of fiber dispersion to the various types of CDMA detectors are investigated. It is shown by simulation results that the proposed detection architecture is a very promising candidate, given its low computational complexity and high detection performance. It is also shown to be more robust to low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and near-far effect when compared to most of the well-known O-CDMA receiver architectures.
