Comments on"Optical Amplifier Noise Figure Reduction for Optical Single-Sideband Signals"

Abstract

In a recent paper1 it was demonstrated that a noise figure below the so-called"quantum limit"is possible using single-sideband (SSB) modulation. In this comment we discuss the interpretation of this result and its implications for optical communications systems.
