Abstract

In this paper, we propose a gear-like metallic core fiber for the generation of a radially polarized mode based on the significant attenuation loss for different transverse modes and a mode reversion mechanism. The mode extinction ratio higher than 40 dB is obtained within 1 cm of such fiber. Our design offers a potential way to obtain a radially polarized beam efficiently.
