Biomedical Optics Express welcomes submissions to a feature issue on "Translational Photoacoustic Imaging for Disease Diagnosis, Monitoring, and Surgical Guidance." Photoacoustic imaging is a rapidly growing field in biomedical optics. Applications cover different areas of biomedical research, ranging from basic biological investigations to translational applications. This issue will cover all disease-related photoacoustic research. Application areas include screening and diagnosis of diseases, imaging of disease progression and therapeutic response, and image-guided treatment, such as surgery, drug delivery, and photothermal/photodynamic therapy. The feature issue will also cover relevant developments in photoacoustic instrumentation (transducer technologies, optical systems, etc.), contrast agents, and image processing/reconstruction algorithms.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
All submissions need to present original, previously unpublished work and will be subject to the normal standards and peer review processes of the journal. The standard Biomedical Optics Express Article Processing Charges will apply to all published articles.
Please prepare manuscripts according to the author instructions for submission to Biomedical Optics Express and submit through OSA's electronic submission system, specifying from the drop-down menu that the manuscript is for the feature issue on Translational Photoacoustic Imaging.
