Abstract

The introduction of greater mechanization in the coal mines has led to an increased production of fine coal. It is possible for the consumer to use this fine coal in furnaces either as pulverized coal or, more generally, as ovoids after briquetting. A study of the various factors, both mechanical and physical, of the briquetting process and of the binder (pitchs or bitumen) has been undertaken by the Cerchar Laboratory.
