Abstract

Ductile cast iron represents an important advance in the production and uses of high strength cast irons suitable for engineering materials. It has been described as the most revolutionary metallurgical development in our time. Ever since its inception, much has been written regarding its metallurgical, physical, and chemical properties; methods and facilities for its production control; its bridging an existing metallurgical gap between cast iron and cast steel (1.2.3.) and its substitution for existing higher strength materials.
