Abstract

A method for the energy-dispersive x-ray fluorescence analysis of the trace elements Zn, Rb, Sr, Zr, and Ba in carbonate rocks (limestone and dolomite) is described. This method utilizes silicate rock standards, loose powder samples, and a matrix correction based on scattered radiation. Values for several international carbonate rock standards are calculated and compare favorably with neutron activation analysis results.
