Abstract
Thermal and photo decomposition, particularly of solid samples, have been chronic problems in the field of resonance Raman spectroscopy due to the absorption by the sample of very intense tightly focused laser light. Strenuous efforts have been made to minimize sample damage by cooling methods as well as by laser beam dispersion. The use of sample spinning cells is also widely practiced in order to increase the time-averaged area of irradiation.
