Abstract

Coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) is a nonlinear, third-order process which has now been demonstrated to have an impressive potential for probing extremely hostile combustion environments. The utilization of the technique often requires computer simulation of theoretical spectral profiles, and to this end, a mathematically useful formalism is desirable to simulate the physical process. In a recent paper we presented a detailed theoretical discussion as to how the squared susceptibility signal dependence, when weighted by an experiment configuration dependent convolution, can produce a CARS spectral profile which can be specific to the experiment design.
