Abstract

The effects of 16 solvents on the frequency and intensity of the OH stretching vibration of the complex formed between n-propyl alcohol as a proton donor and α-picoline as a proton acceptor were extensively studied. The equilibrium constants of the complex were determined in each solvent. The discussion of the results concludes that polar and aromatic solvents weaken the strength of the complex.
