Abstract

For samples showing appreciable fluorescence emission spectra, the effective transmission, neglecting sample reflectance, and for not too strong absorption, is given by <i>T</i><i>e</i> = <i>T</i> + (1 - <i>T</i>)<i>Q</i>FΩ<i>E</i>/4π where <i>T</i>e and <i>T</i> are the effective and actual transmission, respectively; <i>Q</i>F is the fluorescent quantum efficiency, Ω the solid angle of light collection following the sample, and <i>E</i> is the collection efficiency of the interferometer.
