Abstract
It is well known that the analysis of powder samples by x-ray fluorescence is much more complex than that of bulk metals. In addition to interelement interferences, macroscale heterogeneity is much more prevalent, and particle size effects cannot be ignored. When only a few samples are involved, these problems can be eliminated by putting the samples into liquid solution. The chemical dissolution of powder samples and the analysis of the resulting liquids comprised the routine method of analysis in this laboratory
